Grid Connected

A Grid Connect Photovoltaics system generates 100% clean electricity via panels on your roof. This electricity is used first for the needs of your household or building; then any excess is fed back into the power grid, potentially earning you credits from Feed-In Tariffs.

The Renewable Energy Target is an Australian Government scheme designed to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in the electricity market, and to encourage the generation of electricity from sustainable and renewable sources. These incentives are managed under the Small-scale (STCs) & Large-scale (LGCs) Renewable Energy Schemes. Residential Solar installations are covered by the small-scale scheme, which provides an upfront discount on the cost of a solar installation.

    Victorians are taking control of their energy bills, creating jobs, tackling climate change and providing a cleaner, better future for all Victorians through the Solar Homes program.” For eligible households, the scheme provides a solar panel rebate, interest free loans, solar battery rebate and solar for rental properties.

      Thorough Evaluation

      Before beginning the installation, our experts inspect the area for installation and evaluate your current electrical system, ensuring everything is compatible with your intended solar power system.

      Mount Installation

      First, we fix the mounts that will support the Solar Panels. It can be Roof-ground mounts or flush mounts, depending on the requirement. This base structure provides support and sturdiness. We calculate how the P.V. panels (monocrystalline or polycrystalline) will be installed.

      Installation of Solar Panels

      Next, we fix the solar panels with the mounting structure by tightening nuts and bolts. The whole system is appropriately secured to be sturdy and lasts long.

      Electrical Wiring

      The next step is to do the electrical wiring. Universal Connectors like MC4 are used during wiring because these connectors can be connected with all types of solar panels. These panels can be electrically connected in series or parallel depending on the need.

      Connecting system to Solar Inverter

      The next step is to connect the system to a solar inverter. The solar inverter is connected to the Solar Battery and Grid input to produce electricity.

      The next step is to connect the solar inverter and the solar battery. The battery's positive terminal is associated with the positive terminal of the inverter and negative to negative. The battery is needed in an off-grid solar system to store electricity backup.

      Connecting Solar Inverter to the Grid

      The next step is to connect the inverter to the grid. A standard plug is used to connect to the main power switchboard to make this connection. An output wire is coupled to an electric board that supplies electricity to the home. When all the electrical wiring and connections are made, it is time to start the inverter switch ON the Home's Main Switch.

      Grid connect systems use solar generated power, and only source additional power from the grid when needed. An off-grid or stand-alone system is when you store all the energy your panels produce and don’t access the grid at all. A battery is required to store the solar generated energy.

      The size of a Solar System is determined by the size of your home, orientation, and the amount of energy you use. The team at Going Solar are experts in this area and will advise the best system to suit your needs.

      Once your Solar installation is booked in, you can expect your system installation to be completed between 1 – 3 days.

      Solar panels are made from Silicon and particular products can last at least 25 years if properly maintained. Going Solar offers premium solar products that come with a 25 year warranty.

      The age of your home can determine if you need a new switchboard or meter. The Going Solar team will investigate and advise during a free home-site consultation.

      When there is a black out, a home with a grid-connected solar system will also be without power. By law grid-connected solar systems must be shut down if the grid loses power. This is to ensure the linesman can repair any faults safely.

      Every Solar system we install is custom designed to match the home’s unique size, shape, and roof dimensions. The actual amount of space needed depends on the size of the system being installed, which dictates the number of panels required. With in-house system designers, Going Solar is well equipped to tackle all roof types.

      Solar hot water systems, sometimes called solar thermal systems, use the direct heat from the sun to heat water, whereas solar power uses sunlight to produce electricity.
